Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and dozens wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv just after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy stated the nation was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. The deceased were at home in a block of flats on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Objection Following Embassy Destruction

Azerbaijan said it delivered a strong protest to the Russian ambassador this past Friday after the embassy damage. An explosion from a Russian Iskander missile demolished part of the compound's boundary wall and caused serious damage to the embassy grounds, officials from Baku stated. Russian forces were firing hundreds of glide bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average being about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Strikes Focus on Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had launched domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

International Restrictions Impact Moscow's Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers concerning its foreign assets after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from all houses of parliament during his visit, an official announcement said.
