The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
