Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole away victory this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
