Sunshine, meat pies and world-famous cricket grounds - what else would an Three Lions follower possibly want?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to win back the Ashes once the opening games are done.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table this time, though, after a comprehensive 82-run win in Adelaide put the hosts with a 3-0 lead for the fourth straight contest on Australian grounds.

The Barmy Army, the organized fan base, have a large group traveling for the concluding fixtures in the SCG and MCG.

Furthermore, other travel parties who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as loved ones embarking on a dream holiday.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are four such fans.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their travel arrangements and match passes secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "12 months ago", hoping to witness a historic English victory.

Instead, they have watched Australia dismantle the tourists in just a short period from their family home in the north of England.

"People in the office has been making comments about it being over for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"The hope was that we would have the series on the line upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

There was plenty of positivity about England's chances of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of extending their winless run in the country to 19 games when the next match starts in Melbourne this week.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "excitement and fun" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent years had "reinvigorated" the longest format for England fans.

But the Ryding siblings said they had realistic outlooks for the remaining matches - and all they are requesting from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'The aggressive approach has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, impractical batting," stated Rory Ryding.

"Over the course of five days, you should hunker down. Chasing balls 'sixth stump' areas has not been part of the coaching manuals, and that is largely because of the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

Asked whether he believed England will secure a victory in this contest, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the Aussies are just too good currently."

"There is going to have to be multiple performers that stands up for England and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We will have a fantastic experience anyway," added another sibling. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Of course, it's disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount by now."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year out there. Additionally, it's our first experience abroad during the festive period."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"If all else fails, I can play golf to turn to," she added.
