Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

She had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the deciding set against Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
